Children too are a gift from YHVH; the fruit of the womb is a reward. The children born when one is young are like arrows in the hand of a warrior. How blessed is the man who has filled his quiver with them; he will not have to be embarrassed when contending with foes at the city gate. Psalms 127:3-7

Five weeks

Some things we have been doing this week-
We celebrated Essence's 2nd birthday. We had a lovely picnic at the park. The day was gorgeous - beautiful and sunny!
You were one month old on Sunday! One whole month since you joined our family! Everyone still dotes on you just as much as your birth day!
You had your first shower with me and loved it.
We had a picnic at the park for dinner on Monday night for Essences and Elijah's birthday. Unfortunately you weren't too happy and were pretty fussy most of the night.
You have been throwing up a bit more too. Not sure if its from the heat or if your drinking too much or if its something I have eaten.
We went to the markets this week. You still hate the car so much. You scream as soon as I lower you into the seat. It was only a 5min drive!
I have a cold and you just want to cuddle! Your cuddles are good!
We had a visit from Sonja and weighed you. 5.07kgs (11lbs 3oz) . Your growing quickly.
Your out of newborn nappies. They were leaking all the time you were just too big for them!
I love having my face up against your head when I rock you to sleep. So soft. I honestly don't get tired of cuddling you. If only life could be on standstill for a while!

4 weeks

Saturday we hung out at home with all your brothers and sisters. We went down the shops with Grandma and you met Julie.
Your Dad and I went out for dinner with just you. You slept the whole time. I felt very lucky.
On Sunday I took you to church for the first time. You slept almost the whole time in the sling. Was nice to get back there! You did scream the whole time there in the car though!
You wore your first dress today. It was actually the first warm day since you have been born!
That afternoon Nanny and Pa came over to meet you. I showed them the birth photo if me lifting you up out if the water. So sad to think Pa didn't get to see any of his children born. How could people think that it is better for the Dad not to be there? Oh and I rung my grandma to say thankyou for the card and $20 she sent for you. She asked if I was going to catch her lol she had 8 children at 30 but didn't have her 9th until she was 35! I asked her if any of her babies were born late. She had one born 1 month late (although the Dr said she must have got her dates wrong) . Interesting :)
Monday
Well it was a rough night. I was up all night with a gastro bug or food poisoning or something! It was horrible. No sleep lots of pain and lots of toilet visits. I even let Zeke stay home from school to help me today with the older girls. He did a great job! I had a nap with you (first one since you were born!) In the afternoon. I was so tired and it was so good!
You've been a bit unsettled this afternoon.  Not sure if it is because I was sick and my milk dropped a bit or if you going through the 3 week growth spurt or if its because you havent done a poo today. You were up from 4pm to 8:30om which isn't normal for you. Your sound asleep now all snuggled up on me.
My blocked milk duct (on the opposite boob from normal) finally cleared today. Took lots of massages in hot water and it took days but it is gone yay!
I've put you back in cloth nappies. Your just way too cute!
Thursday
You finally did a poo today. After days of not going it had to have been a relief and I think it was days worth lol.
You have a few little milk pimples on your face now and have some dry flaky skin between your eyebrows.
I think your losing some of your hair on the top if your head. You can tell your going to be fair with the blonde hair coming through.
We've been hanging out at home lots. Cooking, cleaning and playing. Your still not staying up for very long between feeds.
Friday-
Your 4 weeks old today. How fast does the time go!
I've been thinking how great it is to not worry about what anyone else thinks how you should be raised. There is no pressure. It really comes naturally. At first I could not put you down. That's ok! It should be like that. Gradually over time it happens. First you might get put down for 5 minutes once a day but slowly over time it increases. You are now being put down for a sleep once or twice a day at first it was in the lounge room but now its in our bedroom. You are still in the hug a bub a lot and still out with me until I go to bed. You will sleep in the swing for a while if your already asleep so I can feed Essence to sleep. I just love how relaxed it is. I can not imagine trying to get you on a strict schedule!
We went to Playgroup for the first time today. We also went into the plaza to do some shopping.

Three weeks

Day 16-
I have felt so good after your birth. I am normally in tears for weeks but not this time! Physically I feel great too. The only struggle I have this time is with boredom or perhaps loneliness. I think I may need some more friends with little children or babies. I certainly need to get out of this house more!
Another day spent at home. Enjoying your sweet cuddles. Smelling your sweet breath I just can't stop staring at you- beautiful girl!
You've had some wind lately. Not sure how much is normal. You were pretty fussy all morning so I didn't get much sleep. Your not crying just fussing. Maybe because I drunk diet coke last night and I haven't had any since before you were born.
Both of your eyes are still gunky :(
Mastitis has cleared naturally!
Your skinny little legs are finally getting a little fat on them!
You've been having nappy free time in the middle of the table while we eat dinner lol its the only way I can eat without you crying!
Day 17-
You had your first shower with Daddy this morning and loved it!
We spent the day at the boys football presentation. You spent the day snuggled up in the hug a bub. Its always a good thing - it means I get to cuddle you and not pass you around to a hundred people! Lots of people came and had a peek at you though!
After such a big day I am very happy to say I feel normal again! Yay. Not lonely and not bored. I think I need the business and craziness of life with many children. It was a rush to get everything done today and it was so good!
Day 18-
You didn't have a very peaceful night last night. You don't seem to want to lay down. You were make groaning sounds and would cry when I played you in bed. As soon as I would sit up with you cuddled on my chest you would sleep. I'm not sure if its wind or a bit of silent reflux? I tried sleeping you on your tummy but that didn't work either. So not much sleep for mummy!
You also seem to be a bit snuffly but I'm not sure it could be my imagination because I am trying to figure out what's causing you pain.
You came to Elizabella's gymnastic class this morning.
We went shopping.
We went to grandmas and grandpa's for dinner.
You had a long cuddle with Daddy tonight while I ran around doing everything else.
Its 10:15pm right now and your sound asleep on me so I am off to bed to see if we can get sleep tonight!
Prating for peaceful sleep for us both!
Day 19-
Wow what a full on day for me! The boys started back at school today so we had the morning rush again :)
Bernadette and her girls came to visit and to meet you.
We went and did a proper grocery shop-all the girls!
Your still a little snuffly but slept better last night. Your little eye is still not better yet.
You do not like to be put down and will only sleep in my arms or the sling. My back is so sore from feeding and carrying you all day but your worth every bit!
I'm so tired and exhausted tonight after running around all day especially doing the night routine alone. It was crazy here for a while!
Oh I just love you so much! You are growing before my eyes and chibbing up nicely. I love kissing your chubby little soft cheeks!
Day 20-
You went to the boys school this morning so the boys could show you off for special news. Ewan wanted to prove you were finally born!
Your skin has stopped peeling and is super soft :)
Your belly button is all healed.
I went to buy eye drops for your eyes but then they seemed to have cleared up. I guess we will see in the morning.
You still don't have any milk pimples. Your skin is just perfect!
You had a pretty sleepy day today. I even put you down twice and you slept not in my arms for about 1/2 hour. You also lay in the pram awake while I hung the washing out!
Your still snuffly and have a very mild cough on occasion. I'm just praying you don't actually get sick!
I get worried sometimes that something will happen to you. I love you so much and am so glad that you are here I think its just too perfect. Trying hard to not let that take over the enjoyment of getting to know you and just enjoying you. Parenthood is so full of worries!
Day 21-
Your eyes are cleared up! So glad I waited to use the drops.
I've stopped taking the placenta pills. Its been two weeks and I should be fine now. Its been amazing to have felt so good after your birth. Its made a huge difference!
Daddy took the girls to the shops which left me and you at home alone for the first time. So quiet. I was tempted to do a quick clean but instead chose to cuddle you :) I can not believe how in love with you I am.
3 weeks old today!-
I honestly can not believe how quickly these weeks are flying by! At least I can honestly say I've enjoyed you every bit of them-getting to know you!
You had your first day sleep in the bed today. It was the first time you have been put down in another room ever! You slept for 1 1/2 hours. I kept walking past the room to check on you. When you woke up the girls and I were so excited lol I love how much they love you too!
We went to a body shop party at Hayleys tonight. You just slept in the sling.
You smiled lots today especially when I kiss you! So sweet the way you open your mouth as if to kiss back!

Two weeks

Day nine-
You have started lifting your head up when you are laying on your tummy. So cute. You actually did this a couple of days ago but I forgot to write it down!
You met Grand-di and Timpa this morning.
You had your first outing in the car. We went to a wedding. On the way there you slept but you weren't as happy on the way home and cried. We had to pull over so I could feed you and I played music to you through my phone which actually calmed you down. I have decided we wont be doing much travelling as it broke my heart to hear you cry!
You did a wee on me while I was changing your nappy at the wedding.
I had my first milk let down today!
I love, love, love the little gulping noises you make while feeding now.
We went to bed nice and early and you just slept and fed. Beautiful :)
Day ten -
Its the football grandfinal today so your Dad and brothers are pretty excited.
You've been sleeping in my arms all day. I just want to treasure these days!
The placenta pills have to be working! I'm still feeling great. I'm tired but a good tired. Still no more tears! I have energy. They do taste though and not very nice!
I washed the last bit of goo out if your hair from the birth tonight.
Loving you Ezaria!
Day eleven-
A nice home day again today. You slept in the hug a bub for most of the day.
Leanne and Jason came to see you so Leanne could have her first cuddle.
Your little belly button is a bit red so I'm putting some cream on.
You have a bit of a weepy eye too which hopefully breast milk will fix!
I rocked you to sleep for the first time tonight all wrapped in the shawl that was mine when I was a baby.
Right now your sound asleep in my arms and I couldn't be happier.
Day twelve-
Today we hung out at home. Just enjoyed being able to cuddle you. I put you down to sleep twice today on the lounge so you still knew we were near. You didn't sleep long (about 15min) but it meant I could run around getting some things done. Leticia called over with her kids and Isaac came down so the house was full. Your Dad was out so we had to manage alone it actually went smoothly.
Day thirteen-
Its been a hard day for me today. You woke up with both of your eyes gunky but hate it when I wipe them or express milk in them. Youve also been having some wind and seem to be in pain after some feeds.
Your skin is still peeling. I have been rubbing olive oil into it.
Your 0000 jumpsuits are getting too short and they squish your toes up so we will be packing them away.
You spent a lot if the day in the sling. I love having you snuggled up on me while I still get everything done.
Sonja called in to see how you are going.
We went for a walk just to get out of this house. I feel as though I am going crazy being stuck here all day!
You have been having a nightly bath for a week now getting you into your night routine. I love how calm you are when we bath in the deep bath. Its like you remember and instantly it soothes you.
Your sound asleep on my lap right now and I love it. Smelling your sweet baby breath and touching your incredibly soft skin. I really can just sit here staring at you. Being your mum is wonderful!
Day fourteen-
You seem to have two unsettled times in a day. Between 3am and 6am (not crying just fussing) and in the evening right at dinner time! Not sure why but lots of feeding and cuddles seems to fix it. I'm wondering if you have a bit if wind through the night as you do a big poo early in the morning!
I have mastitis today. Its not real bad at this stage. I'm trying hard to get rid of it naturally but went to the drs to get a script incase I can't and it gets worse over night.
Another home day here (except when we walked over to the drs) . They are doing road work out the front so our driveway is blocked off for a few days.
Its been raining today and pretty cold. I've been able to dress you in jumpsuits and wrap you in warm blankets since you've been born! Not the best weather for school holidays but great weather to snuggle a new baby!
You were asleep in your rocker this morning and Ewan stood near you and said how hard it is to stay away from you because your so beautiful it makes him want to get closer! He is such a sweet boy and loves you so much. We all love you so much!
Two weeks today-
Wow two weeks old today! These days are already going way too fast. You have been out for 14 days already!
You smiled on the day you were born and have been ever since but today you smiled lots! And tried too coo. So cute.
You definitely know who I am! You will cry for your poor Dad and the quiet down as soon as I take you. He tries but I guess it was just me and you for so long its what your use too (and secretly it makes me happy lol) .
You love having your nappy off. Unfortunately its been too cold to have much nappy free time but I try and let you have a kick with every nappy change. I think you prefer to wee and poo with it off as that's what you do!
Your belly button is healing nicely.
Your eye still hasn't cleared up yet. Hopefully by Monday it will or we will have to get some eye drops.
Its just the girls home tonight. Your sisters are in bed and your snuggled on my lap!

One week

This past week has gone super fast as I knew it would! I have enjoyed every part of it.
Day one-
enjoyed meeting you for the first time. Seeing your beautiful face with chubby cheeks. Your skinny little legs and arms, your long wrinkly hands and feet. Your head full of black hair that's smells so sweet and is so soft to touch. Your little back covered in sweet smelling vernix!
Breastfeeding was easy for you, latched straight on :)
You met your Dad, Grandma, Leanne, Donna, midwife Sonja, Uncle Andrew, Aunty Suzie.
Our first night the boys went and stayed with your Aunty and Grandmother. Just the girls stayed home. You didn't feed for almost 9 hours as your little tummy was gurgling with some fluid that you kept bringing up. Once with a little blood that had me worried but all was fine!
Day two- spent cuddling you wrapped in warm blankets as it was so cold outside!
Sonja came to check how you were doing. Great of course.
Your Dad bought photo frames and printed off some of the beautiful birth photos.
You met Leticia, Aunty Sarah and Annette. The boys all came home and had their first cuddles with you. They missed out the day you were born as it was too crazy here! They went with Sarah for the night. You had your first bath with me.
You fed for 13 hours straight. I was, prepared for the 2nd night being spent feeding but I think you fed more than any of the others.
Day three-
You obviously wanted the milk to come in which it did in the morning. With the milk came the tears for me. Crying for no reason is hard. Especially when you are so happy!
You met your Grandpa.
And your cousin Isaac.
I got to just snuggle you!
Day four-
this was our first day home with everyone. You went in the hug a bub for the first time and loved it. Your so tiny I could barely feel you in there! I managed to get nappies on the line and tidy the kitchen and lounge room. I love using slings it means I don't have to put you down!
You met Hayley and Leticia came over and helped out. Sonja called in to check how you were going. You had your newborn screening test done and cried :(
We had a birthday dinner here for Grandpa who you now share a birthday with!
Day 5-
Still really emotional for me. Lots of tears. Tears of joy that you are here, tears of sadness that its no longer just you and me. Birth is so amazing! The wait is hard. And then its over. Its hard for me as I love being pregnant. I love labour and birth and I especially love the new baby. I always wonder if this will be the last time I will get to have this amazing experience.
Ezekiel and Ewan went to the farm.
Leticia came and helped with dinner as your dad was out all day and night.
Sonja dropped the placenta pills off which I started taking straight away.
Day 6-
Cathy Muller came over bringing some delicious fruit.
Elijah went to the farm.
We did your newborn photo shoot. It was so hard. You kept poo-ing and wee-ing and only slept for one photo. Of course they are all still adorable!
Your cord fell off late at night.
Day seven-
I'm finally feeling better. Great even. Not as emotional and no more tears.
We spent the day with no visitors just being able to enjoy you completely.
Day eight -
one week old!
I can't believe its been a whole week. I enjoyed remembering your birth everytime I looked at the clock - imagining what was happening exactly a week ago!
Sonja came bringing yummy chocolate Brownies. We weighed you. 4.05 kgs or 8pound 15 ounces! You've grown so much! 500g in one week!
We went for our first walk down to the shops. You in the hug a bub. People kept asking if there was a baby in there!
The boys all came back and I feel happy that we are one big family again.
I can not put in words how happy I am that you are here and we (Daddy and I) were chosen to be your parents and you our daughter. I love you so much. I can not bare to put you down. You have not had a sleep out of arms in the day time yet. I find it hard to even let your Daddy cuddle you but I have to share you with him because he loves you as much as I do! All your brothers and sisters want to cuddle you all the time too there are so many people who love you! How lucky you are to be a 7th child. How lucky I am you are my 7th child and I know to enjoy you because this time goes so fast! Love you lots Ezaria Faith <3
